This lesson book is published by the team behind Dutch-Smart, a Dutch smartshop. Dutch-Smart sells Golden Teacher grow kits, and the product links on this site go to that shop. When you buy through such a link, we earn from the sale.
We say this first because it matters for how you read the rest. The site exists because most of what is online about Golden Teacher is copied shop text: the same origin story, the same claim that it is mild, the same promise of insight, usually without a single source. We wanted one place that covers one cultivar properly, including the parts that do not help sales: that its history is undocumented, that no published study has measured its strength, and that the mushrooms are illegal in most countries.
1How the lessons are made
- Facts about the species, its chemistry and the law come from scientific publications, legal texts and Dutch public information services such as the Trimbos Institute and the Jellinek. Every source is linked where it is used.
- Statements from product pages, including our own shop's, are labelled as shop claims. Where they contradict each other, we say so.
- Anything we could not verify has been left out. Where something is simply not known, the lesson says that.
- The reader contains composite trip reports, clearly labelled. We do not publish invented testimonials or reviews.
- We make no medical or health claims of any kind.
Every lesson shows the date it was last checked. Laws, products and research change; if something here is out of date or wrong, Dutch-Smart's customer service can pass it on to us.
2Who is behind the shop

Dutch-Smart is a Dutch smartshop that has been around since 2011. It ships from the Netherlands and only sells to adults. The winking lion is its mascot.
